Not Cheering For This

I read the craziest article in the news recently.

A school in Wisconsin has a banquet every year for their cheerleaders and 150 people, including parents and coaches, are invited. They give out awards at the banquet. But the awards the article talked about were NOT "Best Jumps" or "Most Backflips." NOPE. They were things like "Biggest Booty" and "String Bean" and "Biggest Boobies."
?WHHHHAAAT?
When people complained the principal and the superintendent said that they were all just joking around, and they were not really making fun of anyone. Are they crazy? How is it EVER okay to make fun of someone's body like that, especially teenagers, and ESPECIALLY in front of adults and parents?!
So the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) got involved. The district's PR person tried to tell the coach that she could not do the awards and needed to apologize and resign but she refused, so the ACLU is "urging the district to discipline staff involved with the cheerleading awards and provide mandatory anti-harassment training for all district employees and written guidelines "prohibiting school officials from commenting on students’ physical appearances." Um, YEAH.
