The thing about positive self-image is that you can cover up a lot with a smile. Just because someone looks totally successful on the outside does not mean they aren’t struggling inside with body shaming and negative self-image. I am very inspired by what Katelyn Ohashi, a gymnast at UCLA Gymnastics who does amazing floor routines with dancing and great music, is doing about her body image experience. She struggled with body image in her teens especially because of the demands of her sport but has found a way to cope. She writes beautiful poetry that says goodbye to negative self-image. She is a perfect 10 not only in gymnastics but in being a great role model for knowing her own Self-ValYOU. You don’t have to have a “perfect” body to dance on a stage or tumble on a mat. What is a perfect body anyway? The perfect body is one you feel healthy in and that lets you do the activities you love—and I still deal with that same self-doubt and have to remind myself of this all the time. You just have to keep showing up and keep going and keep working on turning around negative self-thought. You can see an interview with Katelyn here:
