Building A Bridge

I saw a great article the other day about another way you can work to build better self-image. Kati Morton is a YouTuber and a therapist and she says that one way to try to improve self-image isn't necessarily to go straight to a positive thought but instead she says to build a bridge.
"The bridge statement is a possibility," she said. "Let's say we have really bad body image and we think we're fat and ugly. Then the bridge statement could be like: 'It's possible that I'm not as ugly as I think I am. I might be, but it's possible that I'm not. I could be over-reacting.'"
So, she says it's okay to recognize what you are thinking and to actually question yourself about it. I thought that was really interesting. I haven't thought about it that way before, but even when we are thinking something negative, we should still respect that it was our thought. The goal is to eventually get to loving yourself.
I really liked this quote:
'Notice what you're saying and remind yourself that thoughts are not facts.'
So in other words it's fine if you recognize you thought something negative, but don't live there, because just because you thought it doesn't mean it's true.
